Business Management is one of the most lucrative areas of work to be in but it is also a difficult field to play. It is a competitive industry and you need to have an edge to stand out from the crowd of aspiring business moguls. One way to do that is to prepare yourself by being trained in a respectable Business School. Put MBA next to your name. However, it is not as easy as it sounds. There are steps to being great at Business Management; let us do this right. First, ace the GMAT Exam. Your GMAT score will be your ticket to the greatest Business Schools. The higher your score, the more chances and choices you have of getting accepted. Entry to a good school does not solely rely on your GMAT math score but it is an essential basic part of it.
To Buy or Not To Buy
There are people who seem to be legends and are able to score high without even studying, there are others who join GMAT preparation classes but there will always be a new project or proposal submission at work, family vacations you want to take and unscheduled life events that demand attention.
Regardless of erratic schedules, if you are studying correctly for the GMAT you are bound to succeed. After all, preparation is the key to success. There are tons of GMAT books and reviewers in the market but we will help you save time in finding the one for you. Different strokes for different folks and in the same way, a certain book might not work for certain type of learner.
Best GMAT Book for the Non-Math Wiz
All of us have different strengths and weaknesses. If you are like me whose strong suit is definitely not MATH, you will pay attention to this batch of books.
Kaplan GMAT Math Workbook 6th Edition
This book has targeted review of the math concepts and hundreds of exercises to help readers assess their current skill level to identify areas that need more focus. On top of that, there are explanations and practice sets for all the question types in the GMAT’s quantitative section. Unlike some books that only show diagrams of the answers, The Kaplan GMAT Math Workbook has detailed answer explanations which can help you pinpoint which part of your solutions or answers are actually incorrect. As a bonus, it has the Kaplan’s proven score-raising strategies.
However, the answers for the questions are all at the back part of the book which can be quite a challenge once you are checking your answers. Bright side: you will not be able to cheat on yourself.
The Official Guide for GMAT Quantitative Review 2nd (second) edition Text OnlyPaperback – 2009
This book has one of the highest reviews from readers; it has a staggering 56% 5 star review which speaks lot. This book has 907 GMAT questions from previous GMAT tests which are organized by level of difficulty. Thus if you are a little bit OC with an appreciation for the methods of Pavlov, you will find this very helpful. On top of that, the practice questions follow actual GMAT test patters. It also has a 100-question diagnostic test for you to measure your progress.
The downside is, this book does not include a test-taking strategy. This can help you practice your strategies but not learn them. To make up for that, this book has an access code that you can find inside the back cover that provides 12-month usage of an online version of this official guide.
Total GMAT Math
At a glance, this book might appear pricey but if you really think about it this is actually a good value for money compared with what other prep companies will charge you for a Math Book Set. This contains 300+ GMAT format questions along with explanations with diagrams. It is written as an instruction manual with many insights, explanations and tips between chapters. It also includes over 500 exercises that are not in GMAT form which can be helpful if you truly want to learn the concepts and not just learn them to pass the exams.
The arrangement of topics is typical and there are no summary pages; if you have a high demand for organization, using this book might be a little challenging. There is a copyright and website address on every page which can be a good thing if you want to have in depth study but it can be a distraction for some people.
By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail. You can pick the best GMAT Prep Book for you but still fail if you are not committed in arming yourself with the necessary discipline for succeeding. The GMAT Test is stressful but the career you get after passing the GMAT will be even more demanding. Do not think of the GMAT as a hurdle but rather as a first step towards your goal.
